2017 Yurting season draws to a close. Looking forward to 2018.

It has been an absolutely fantastic 6 months and we have had more guests coming to stay than ever.

I really can’t believe that our last guests of the year have now departed.

Officially we closed for the winter on the 2nd of October but unofficially we stayed open an extra weekend to allow some of Wiltshire College‘s 2nd year degree students (and their tutors) to come and do some field work towards their degree. More information of their stay and what they found in and around the yurt site to follow as well as lots more in our quarterly newsletter.

One of the unexpected outcomes of their visit was to confirm that the lake (I’ve been describing it as either a small lake or a very large pond) is officially a lake! This is really going to help us when describing our new all year round accommodation, as the ‘pond house’ doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as the ‘lake house’!

Anyway back to this year’s holiday season. It has been a very busy 6 months, with old friends returning and meeting a whole lot of new ones. Many thanks for the kind words and mind-blowing reviews here on Facebook and on TripAdvisor.

Thanks to everyone who left us a review on TripAdvisor and helped us achieve our Certificate of Excellence for 2017. It was a proud moment and a surprise to receive the email informing us of this achievement, earlier in the year.

We had a really great start to this year’s season with bookings way up on those for 2016 and it looks as if 2018 is going to be even better, with lots of advance bookings already in.

I would like to say it’s now time for me to relax and put my feet up…

But who am I kidding, the hard work is only just starting as the yurts will be coming down and going in to storage for the winter. The work on the pavilion continues and then there is all the work on the farm over the winter. Not to mention getting everything in place for next year on the yurt site.

I’m really looking forward to seeing you all, as well as hearing the delight and laughter of children playing in the stream next year.

If it’s not too early, have a great Christmas and New Year!

Mike
