Important Information
Arrival Times:
We are a small family run site. We live on the farm and there is no staffed reception, so we do need to know in advance when you will be arriving in order to be here to greet you (and so we’re not down in the fields mucking out!) and so we can show you around and transport your luggage to your accommodation.
Your yurt/The Lake House will be available from a check in time of 4.00pm and no earlier.* Early check in is very unlikely as we need to clean the 5 yurts, Lake House and all the facilities and also undertake any maintenance (which can include large farm machinery) after all guests have left the site in the morning and achieving this is quite a push!
The free 4×4 luggage transport is only available from 4.00pm until 7.00pm for arrivals.
If this is your first visit it is very important you arrive at least an hour before dark (especially if glamping) to familiarise yourself with the site – there is no lighting between the car park and the accommodation (please bring torches!).
Arriving Late:
A £10 late arrival fee will be required for check in after 7.00pm unless pre-arranged. Please contact us if you are going to arrive later than pre-arranged (we do understand that people get stuck in traffic but please do let us know so we’re not waiting for you in the car park for hours!).
Check Out Times:
Check out times are arranged in 15 minute slots from 09:00am to 10:45am, this does include the guests staying on the yurt site as well as those staying in The Lake House. Please arrange a check out time in advance. Check out times are organised on a first come first served basis.
The free 4×4 luggage transport is only available between 9.00am and 10.45am for departures – except by pre-arrangement outside those times.
*Early Arrivals/Late Departures:
We are always happy to try and accommodate early arrivals/late departures where possible, but if your accommodation was booked beforehand or afterwards it is unlikely as we have a short turn around time and a lot of cleaning to do. In peak season we are always fully booked so I’m afraid it is very unlikely.
Groceries:
Deliveries:
The following stores deliver to us: Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsbury, Asda and Ocado. We are happy to receive goods on your behalf before you arrive, but delivery needs to be between 1.00pm – 3.00pm on the day of your arrival. Please be sure to let us know when the delivery will arrive so that we know the delivery is coming or we could miss it. Please also be sure to put on the delivery address/delivery note the yurt number/The Lake House so that we can put your groceries away for you if they arrive before you do.
Local stores:
There are a variety of options all within a short distance:
The nearest little village shops are in Trellech and Devauden (both around 3 miles away) and are perfect for your bare essentials.
If you want organic vegetables and local produce, there is a wonderful community shop and café in Brockweir, 7 miles away.
There are also supermarkets and a good range of shops at the larger towns of Chepstow (Tesco, M&S, Budgens) 10 miles away or Monmouth (Waitrose, M&S, Co-Op) 8 miles away.
6 miles away (about a 15 minute drive) is the small town of Usk which has a Co-Op which opens quite late, a Spar, a butcher, fishmonger and other small shops. It also has a wonderful Farmers’ Market on the 1st and 3rd Saturday in the month (10.00 am – 1.00pm) – if you go, don’t miss the superb award-winning Trealy Farm Charcuterie, the owner James has won no end of awards including the BBC Good Food charcuterie award in 2011!
Also 6 miles away in Raglan there is an excellent ‘old school’ farm shop which sells local produce and fantastic beef (we absolutely love the rolled rib joint). There is also a convenience store which is situated on the main high street. The Nisa Store opens quite long hours and has brilliant butchery at the back – Connie is the butcher and the meat is superb and very reasonable (anyone in the know around here, buys from Connie!). Raglan also has the award-winning butcher N. S. James – fantastic quality.
Some takeaways may deliver here although we cannot guarantee this. If you do order a takeaway please pay over the phone and if you need us to pick up from the carpark and bring down to you let us know in advance and we can arrange this.
We hope this provides you with sufficient information but if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are constantly seeking to improve and welcome suggestions.
