Yurt 1

Yurt one sleeps 7 people
  • Sleeps 7
  • Own well equipped kitchen
  • Sheltered by trees
  • Shady in late Summer
  • Close to stream
  • Own compost loos

Yurt One is located a little away from the other five yurts and is partially protected from view by woodland trees. In late August and September the deck around the yurt gets less sun than the others, making it ideal for those who prefer dappled shade.

Close to the stream and the ford, this yurt has its own well equipped kitchen (with a full size cooker and large fridge freezer), but the kitchen doesn't have hot water (unlike the main kitchen and bathrooms) so you will need to boil a kettle for washing up.

There are two compost loos situated at the top of this part of the field although the main shower and loo block isn't far away.

Yurt One has a large deck with a quirky table (made from an old sewing machine base), a bench seat, a built in stone bbq, wood store and storage shed.

If you prefer to have your own kitchen this yurt fits the bill, although you are still very welcome to use the main kitchen which does have a hot water supply.

Yurt One has it's own small camp fire site which makes this yurt a perfect choice for those who like to have some privacy. Yurt One is near to the stream crossing and tends to attract budding young civil engineers building dams (mostly children - but a few mums and dads have been spotted joining in the fun). This is the perfect choice of yurt if you want to supervise your little ones, but perhaps not so good if you are an adult-only group looking for a shriek-free break!

Inside Yurt One is a king size bed, a Mongolian day bed and 4 single futons. It also has a Mongolian coffee table and stools and an original Mongolian wall hanging.

The view from the front door looks down the length of the yurt field, while the view from the back door overlooks the stream - a great place to watch out for the herons, wagtails and kingfishers. If you have young children this yurt offers the safest place to supervise them whilst they play in the stream. Inside the yurt the large crowns lets in masses of light and a rain cap can be removed for star gazing on fine evenings.

As with all our yurts this one has two outside doors which provide airy light and safety exits. The wooden floors are covered with coir matting with decorative rugs on top and all our yurts have wood burning stoves surrounded by fire guards. We take your safety seriously so each yurt is fitted with a smoke detector, carbon monoxide alarm and a fire extinguisher. All the yurts are waterproof and thickly lines with felt for cosy warmth on cooler days.
